The Adventures of Homeless Girl

What do I believe?

massive-jesus

Now you may have noticed that I keep mentioning God in a lot of my posts and I have personally noticed that there seem to be a huge number of religious type blogs on WordPress. So I feel I can speak about this without some backlash ( I hope)

I have looked through a lot of these blogs and most of the comments and ideas I do not agree with.  I do not agree with most of the rubbish that is preached in the church today that in some way God wants to punish us and loves the idea of people suffering and being broke.

I have not always been a christian, i mean I grew up in a religious household but only saw God as this distant jerk who did or did not exist, and why did I have to waste my time worshiping some one who could allow such horrible things to happen in the world.

Then it was just before I turned 17 and I had seen amazing things but still was not sure yet and kept drifting in and out of calling myself a Christian until I made a decision one day that it was all or nothing. And I have never regretted that decision since. But I also  felt like God was calling me to a relationship with him, not the tripe you hear in church about rules and regulations you have to go through from so, so and so denomination. That God cannot hear you and he might be bothered to answer your prayer. But a true personal relationship, deeper than any other on earth that makes you feel so fulfilled, that he is a father and I am his child.

I am not saying it is easy because there are some days I wish God did not exist and I could carry on living my life: oblivious.  And I still have many problems to overcome and it is all a learning process.

I believe that God created the world and that science does prove that as you can check out here —->http://www.answersingenesis.org

I believe in the bible to be an incorruptible word of God and that miracles happen today (and I have proof).

I do not agree with abortion as an option for birth control (ooo controversial!) but only necessary in adverse circumstances. i.e rape and endangering the mother.

I do not agree with the republican party or the democratic party but choose to vote based on candidate.

I hate racism and all kinds of prejudice.

I love watching Christian television because it is not a snore fest like church all though I will be going to church once I am settled.

I know people don’t like to talk about faith, religion or anything controversial because we like to take pride in the fact that we can spit out all kinds of things and call it free speech but to be honest with you I really don’t care whether you agree with me or not, or completely hate the idea  I am discussing my faith openly, it makes no difference to me. I have my belief and you have yours. ( And f.y.i I am not some crazed religious fanatic I just feel strongly about this issue) :)

Because of this I can never separate my self from God, I would be dead right now if it wasn’t for my faith and even though this situation is so horrible and I wish it to end everyday, I don’t regret it and I do believe it is for a purpose: I have learned so much about myself as a person and have matured tremendously and accomplished things I could never think possible.

I can now say that I am fearless and believe that I CAN do all things and nothing is impossible.  And it’s the same for everyone whether you believe in God or not. If you set your mind to do something, you CAN do it.

Do not let any idiot or jealous friend tell you, you cannot. If all the people we read about in history books and place on a pedestal listened to what the negative types said, we would be no where, still living in the dark. Believing something ridiculous that gender and race determines a persons character and how they should be treated. That injustice should be tolerated.

You need to believe in yourself first….then others will believe in you.

And thanks again for reading these random postings, and I promise to not post about anything faith again, I think this sums it up well :)

I have had a lot on my mind lately and it has been a very hard two weeks for various reasons so I apologize if they are not what everyone was expecting, sometimes it can be emotionally draining reliving some of these experiences and having to write it. But I am okay now and always will be and I hope you are to.

Esca- lator! Peace and love.

It comes down to whatever appears to convert the non-believers and keep the believers believing. Modern day Sinners In the Hands of an Angry God.

Would you support the prohibiting of it as a legal option? Not all Pro-Choicers are Pro-Abortion; and I imagine not all Anti-Abortioners are Anti-Choice.

Possessing an abundance of self-confidence and determination is certainly essential for people who pursue aspirations of personal/profession greatness, but it’s probably equally–it not more–important to remember that just because one reaches for the stars, one might hit the ceiling instead of the moon. And, it’s not one’s fault. There are other factors involved in influencing or determine the outcome of one’s actions than one’s own efforts.

Just out of curiosity, where do you place the role of ritual in developing and maintaining a relationship with any higher power? Do you think faith and not being a total arse-bottom to other people is sufficient? or must one also bask in the faith in the presence of other like-minded people? Must songs be sung? Must scriptures be read?

About keeping the non believers believing: I think it is because we have completely misinterpreted what the bible really teaches to suit our own ideals.

I hate everything to do with abortion because I feel it devalues human life and we forget that a child is involved here, I know it is a scary situation for many women and nobody deserves their human rights to be taken away but what about the human rights of the fetus?

You raise some valid points but I don’t agree with the idea that we should not hope too much, that’s just a way to keep people in their “place”. And why can’t we encourage each other and instead constantly remind people what their limitations are. I would rather try and fail than not try at all.

The Church has created rituals that you supposedlyneed to do to access God. I do believe in worshiping God and Jesus because I have so many things to be grateful for and he deserves that.

Yeah scriptures must be read if you want a deeper relationship with God because the bible is not a story book and holds true answers if read in context and correctly rather than picking out a verse and making baseless conclusions.

I am more than happy that you have your opinion and I am not really sure what you believe but whatever it is I respect it.

Thanks again for the comments

Politically, I’m not pro-abortion, but I don’t want to envision a kind of Al Capone of reproductive options (or should that be “post-fertilization” options). And yes, comparing Prohibition to conception is rather unwieldy, but if there is/can be more profit to be made by performing medically safe but illegal abortions for any reason, would it be preferable to keep it legal? with a bus-load of conditions?

Personally, though, I see the reasoning behind why it both should and should not be legally permissible that in the end, I kind of side with an extreme alternative: don’t engage in activities which would–even with contraceptives–lead to unwanted/unexpected fertilization. Or, if you really must express your hormonally induced or exaggerated impulses, or your love for your partner, then steel yourself against the possibility that the contraceptives might not work.

but that’s untenable in the 21st century, right? “Legislate non-violent, rated R or NC-17 activities between consenting adults? no way. not in America.”

I was getting at the idea that… you (the general you) can’t control everything (or a lot of things) that happen in your life. You make decisions, you act on them, you pursue your goals…but whether or not you succeed isn’t always up to you.

There are outside forces involved–human and divine. For instance, you don’t get the job or the scholarship or the bank loan or accepted into any of your top three universities.
You might have the right qualifications, you might feel you deserved the desired outcome because you worked so hard–you can basically be the most ideal candidate, but if the employer or school administration folks give it someone else, it’s not because you weren’t good enough.

I’ve known people who blame themselves every time their hard work doesn’t show results in a timely manner or at all. And when I remind them that they can only do so much–after that, it’s up to other people.

I wasn’t purposely suggesting that one shouldn’t bother aiming for the stars simply because there’s a chance that one might hit the ceiling.

I was raised non-denominational Protestant, but….

well I pretty much believe what you believe homeless girl. I think what your saying is very brave and to the point. I love your site and what you have been saying. And I wish you loads of succes.
You should totally turn it into a book.

though you may feel nervous about posting such personal thoughts i admire your vulnerability. this is one of the most interesting blog posts i’ve read by anyone in a long time! i think that if we all just post vague and generic ideas there’s a tendency for people to sit around in a mindless stupor and agree out of either boredom or ignorance.

considering the fact that we live in an age where information is so readily available (not to mention free) and we live in a country where we are free to ask questions, express opinions and seek answers it would be a shame to give up searching for the truth about things.

thanx for your honesty. it’s refreshing to find someone who actually has opinions and is not afraid to stand behind them, although our worldviews are reflected in everything we say/do regardless of whether or not we speak them out loud.

stuffjourneymemberslike <—- i LOVE your username haha.

Wow thats so nice of you to say that and it makes the risk worthwhile. And i love the points you bring up…thanks again.

You may be the only bible some people see, so please don’t had your faith. I God has blessed with a gift use it for his glory. God is preparing you for something big.

I think you should be free to write about your faith whenever you want. This is YOUR blog after all! Keep up the fight.
